Japan's Intercity Transport

Japan's public transport is speedy, efficient and not very expensive.

The most frequent city transports are bus and of course the ubiquitous taxi. Some cities also run trams, megapolises - the subway. Many Japanese travel in and out of town by bike and scooter.

You'd better buy subway/train/bus pre-paid cards to avoid time- and nerve-consuming fare guessing, coin mess and ticket vending machine lines.
